Description:
The Technical Services Supervisor is accountable for the overall quality and recovery components of manufacturing. This is accomplished by the responsibilities of auditing equipment performances and training of plant management on the proper methods of processing. These proper methods will be acquired and/or adapted from SOPs set by the Technical Services Steering Committee and the Corporate Engineering (Technical Services) group.
The Technical Services Supervisor is accountable to perform or facilitate R&D testing on new equipment or processes. This will include recommendations for the capital process on projects.
Job Responsibilities:
• Auditing factory for equipment optimization, operation of equipment, proper process QC testing, and overall observations.
• Manage and set direction for the line study testing group and the cutter technicians.
• Training of plant management on standard processing philosophies and techniques.
• Complete and facilitate monthly/annual reporting requirements: monthly report, solids utilization report, local reports, and capital review support.
• Evaluate collected data and recommend process improvement guidelines.
• Guide the facility to economically efficient targets and provide cost savings or cost avoidance justification.
• Perform R&D testing on new equipment and supply data/recommendations to R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
• Support R&D, QA, MQP, and SPC on projects and improvements.
• Support Manufacturing on all new products being run at a facility.
• Set goals and “vision” for local facility in the technical area.
• The ability to quickly grasp technical and abstract concepts.
• Training is an integral part of this position. The candidate must have a background or proven experience in training.
• Computer literacy is a must due to the nature of equipment operation and reporting.
• Knowledge of basic Statistical concepts is required.
• Leadership qualities will be required because the candidate will be directing the plant management group on “best practices” in the operation of plant equipment.
• Moderate to advanced knowledge of processing equipment, processing methods, manufacturing philosophies, and basic manufacturing SOPs.
Experience Required:
. A Bachelor Degree in food science, engineering, manufacturing, (or equivalent work experience) or related fields is required.
. A minimum of 1 year experience in a technical and/or manufacturing role. . A proven ability to train others in technical applications, methods, and philosophies; as well as, auditing factories for optimization, operation, procedures, etc.
. Must have a working knowledge of computers with the basic applications of Word and Excel.
